Age friendly communities
In 2018, Charles Sturt University (CSU) and the Department of Health and Human Services partnered to offer a post graduate course Leadership in Healthy Ageing.
Designed to strengthen community capacity in response to a growing ageing population in the Ovens Murray Region, Charles Sturt University (CSU) in conjunction with Department of Health Human Services Victoria (DHHS) have created a program that will help you to develop the skills to lead an effective response to community needs.
It will connect you with colleagues and agencies, foster partnerships, and support innovative thinking in positioning your community as a liveable and inclusive community for older people. “In the Ovens Murray region right now, people aged 60 and over account for an extraordinary 32% of our community. This means there are more people over 60 living, working, learning and contributing to our community than any other group in the population” Sandy Austin, Director East Division Health, DHHS, August 2 2017.
A number of people across our region undertook and have successfully completed this course.
To continue to build on this work and the collaborative practice established in 2019, CSU will support a community of practice enabling participants to continue building upon creating age-friendly communities.
